Welcome AMIT 5773!

Dear "AMIT Family,"

The big day has finally arrived! We were thrilled to welcome the students after their long trip to Eretz Yisrael!

After loading the buses with mountains of luggage (are they really only coming for 1 year?), we headed to a beautiful scenic lookout in Beit Orot. Rav Goldstein, Rav HaMidrasha shared a message about developing a personal "vision" that will enable each and every student to maximize the endless possibilities that this year offers. Mrs. Dena Knoll, Educational Director, shared a few thoughts about K'riah (tearing one's garment) which is performed as an expression of mourning for the destruction of the Beit Hamikdash. We distributed special personalized AMIT t-shirts with the words "אם אשכחך ירושלים תשכח ימיני" which we ripped together as a group. Then we went straight to the Kotel to daven Mincha. Coincidentally, we witnessed a special tzahal tekes (Israeli army initiation ceremony) that happened to be taking place at the Kotel!

Finally, we arrived at Beit Hayeled where the girls were welcomed by Mrs. Barbara Vidomlansk, Coordinator of Student Activities and Moti Asaraf, Director of Beit Hayeled. We enjoyed a buffet dinner and then the girls went upstairs to the dorm where they had the chance to unpack, settle in and meet new friends The evening continued with a fun icebreaker activity led by Nechama, Bracha and Shirelle, our wonderful madrichot (dorm counselors). We are looking forward to spending a special Shabbat together in Neve Daniel together with our staff and their families.

Thank you for sharing your daughters with us this year.
Shabbat Shalom!
