Project Leket
On Sunday morning we headed out to Rechovot to pick vegetables for the needy. The organization leket arranges for surplus fruits and vegetables, that would have otherwise gone to waste, to be picked for needy families. We paired off in groups of two or three and got our hands and clothes dirty picking beets. Crate after crate was filled and by the end we were told that Midreshet Amit picked enough beets to feed over 300 families! We returned to Yerushalayim tired, with purple hands, but most importantly united in our sense of fulfillment that we had just done something to help those less fortunate than us!
